Forwards

Liam MacDougall #9 (L, 5-10/175, late 1997)-MacDougall is always in motion and has an incredible understanding of the game. He is dangerous with the puck on his stick and often outwaits the defender and finds a trailing teammate.  He is good on the half-wall on the PP because he keeps his feet moving or finds a passing lane like cutting back door for a deflection. Grade A

Nathan Savage #14 (L, 6-0/175, 1996)-Savage had a strong game with a 3-goal night. He had 2 deflection goals on the PP by being in front of the goalie and keeping his stick available.  He plays strong along his boards and makes good passes to his linemates exiting the zone.  He has a good shot and uses his body well to protect the puck and maintain possession. Grade A

Cale Allen #6 (L, 5-11/175, 1996)-Allen is a grinding winger who communicates well with his teammates, calling for the puck. If left alone, he has a heavy shot and blasted on from the slot for Lasalle’s 4th goal.  He uses his body in the defensive zone to box out the D and help clear the zone. Grade B+

Eric Kirby #12 (R, 6-0/175, 1997)-Kirby was a late season addition to the Vipers and a returning veteran. He had 48 points in 48 games last year and saw time on the wing and at center. He shows a willingness to go to the front of the net and pay the price while taking the goalies eyes away. Grade B+

Chris Playfair #16 (L, 6-0/161, 2000)-Playfair plays the game with quick speed. He has good pursuit of the puck on the forecheck and uses his speed to attack wide and get behind the net where he looks to use his D.  He creates good back pressure on the puck. Grade B+

Tyler Russell #42 (R, 6-1/175, 1997)-Russell plays good positional hockey in all 3 zones. He works hard along the walls and is strong on the puck, using his body rather than relying on his stick.  He goes hard to the net hard and clears his zone with good hard passes. Grade B+

Daniel Beaudoin #43 (L, 5-11/170, 1996)-Beaudoin sees the ice well and distributes the puck well to his wingers. He is good in the faceoff circle helping his team gain puck possession.  He supports his D well in the corners in his own zone. Grade B+

Manny Silverio #71 (L, 5-10/165, late 1997)-Silverio has good offensive skills and uses his speed to back defenders up. He is used on the PP on the blue line as the quarterback.  He moves the puck well with the extra man but needs to make sure he makes better decisions when shooting. Grade B+

Brett Primeau #90 (R, 5-11/178, 1997)-Primeau is one of the quicker skaters in the league and puts D on their heels when he attacks wide with speed. He has good puckhandling skills and moves the puck well out of his own zone.  He has a good shot but needs to work on releasing it while in full stride. Grade B+

Maddux Rychel #61 (L, 6-2/200, 1999)-Rychel has a big body that creates problems for the opposition when he gets himself in front of the goalie. He needs to incorporate more speed and physical play into his game to be more effective. Grade B

Jack Bowler #8 (L, 5-10/160, 2000)-Bowler has some vision with the puck on his stick and has good playmaking abilities. He relies more on his stick than his body on the forecheck.  He needs to be stronger in the faceoff circle and stay with his man after a lost faceoff in the defensive zone. Grade B

Blake McConville #72 (R, 6-1/202, 2000)-McConville was a recent addition from the PJHL Essex 73s. He has a big body and finishes his checks.  He has a good skating stride but is on the fourth line and saw limited ice time. Grade B

Jasper Forgrave #81 (L, 6-0/165, 1999)-Forgrave uses his speed to create havoc for defenders on the forecheck. He has a good quick shot and backchecks hard. Grade B

Defense

Brendan Soto #2 (R, 5-9/160, 1999)-Soto has improved his mobility and confidence with the puck. He has his head up when shooting and looks to get the puck through to create a rebound or deflection like on the first goal. Grade B+

Zack Hoffman #3 (R, 6-3/190, 1998)-Hoffman skates well and will carry the puck through the neutral zone to lead the attack. He is good at making the first pass and filling a lane to join the rush. Grade B+

Frank Zak #7 (R, 6-0/185, 1997)-Zak uses his partner effectively and stands the opposition up at the blue line. He makes good passes in the neutral zone on a regroup and keeps the puck in by pinching and using his body appropriately. Grade B+

Kaelan O’Flynn #94 (R, 6-0/195, 1996)-O’Flynn has been a nice addition to the Vipers back end. He moves the puck quickly and effectively in his own zone and keeps the play simple.  He sees time on the PP and has a good hard shot from the point. Grade B+

Dede Cato #4 (R, 5-11/170, 1997)-Cato is a bit diminutive on the back end and relies on speed and anticipation to defend. He has a good skating stride and a willingness to join the rush but he needs to make sure he is getting back sooner. Grade B

Goaltenders

Eli Billing # 35 (Catches Left, 5-10/175, late 1997)-Billing has a high level of compete and does a good job keeping the puck in front of him so he is in position for the next save. He has good rebound control and controls where the puck is going using his stick or his pads. Grade B+
