NAHL Cancels Regular Season Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) announced on Monday that all remaining 2019-20 regular season games have been canceled, effective immediately, due to the international medical emergency caused by COVID-19 and pandemic.

The NAHL’s regular season was scheduled to end on Sunday, April 4th.

“We understand that this is a very difficult time for our hockey community and we are working on all options in order to conclude the season with a Robertson Cup Championship,” said NAHL commissioner Mark Frankenfeld. “We are actively and continuously monitoring a very difficult situation in order to make the right decision for everyone involved.”

The league did not provide details as to how the playoff teams would be seeded, but it’s presumed that the standings at the playing stoppage would apply and set the playoff order, if the league is able to resume play this spring.
