NCAA: UNH Adds Transfer from Denver, Bentley Adds Transfer from Northeastern

’99 F Tyler Ward transfers to UNH

Ward is headed to UNH after two years at Denver. In two seasons with the Pioneers, he appeared in 74 games and scored 15 goals and 19 assists. The Kamloops native was in the USHL with Tri-City and in the BCHL with Merritt prior to making the jump to college hockey.

Ward will have to sit out a transfer year in 2020-21 and will be eligible in 2021-22.

NZ Scouts on Ward: “He’s small but really quick and dynamic with the puck in open ice. He reads the play well, makes terrific passes and has a deceptively powerful shot.”

’98 D A.J. Villella transfers to Bentley

Villella announced his transfer Wednesday on Twitter. The ’98-born Florida native appeared in 25 games as a freshman in 2018-19, notching two points; he was limited to one game this past season.

Prior to Northeastern, Villella played in the USHL for the Sioux Falls Stampede and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. After an NCAA transfer year, he’ll be eligible at Bentley (with two years of eligibility) in 2021-22.

’02 D Blake Dangos to St. Lawrence for 2021

Dangos is a Missouri native who was a rookie in the NAHL this past season, posting eight points in 40 games for the Janesville Jets.

Last season Dangos was in the NA3HL with the St. Louis Jr. Blues where he had 16 points in 40 games.

NZ Scouts on Dangos: “Small, mobile defender with nifty stick skill and quick decision maker. He was great on breakouts moving the puck up to the wing and side stepping forecheckers. He’s quick to the puck and plays a tight smothering coverage. He’s not dynamic enough offensively at his size to be an NHL pick but he constantly caught our eye at the showcase and has solid NCAA upside.”

’00 F Max Borst to St. John’s for 2020

Borst is from Edina, Minn. and has spent all of his time in the NAHL since graduating Edina High in 2018. Last season he spent the entire year with the Maryland Black Bears. This season he played for the Black Bears, Lone Star Brahmas and Northeast Generals.
