OHL: Soo Signs One Of Ontario’s Top Players

’04 F Bryce McConnell-Barker to Soo Greyhounds

NZ Scouts: “Neutral Zone Ontario scouts believed McConnell-Barker was the top player playing in Ontario (behind Adam Fantilli) for most of the season. He was dominant in league play and raised his level of play in the major tournaments. His pace and elite space was noticeable every shift. He is versatile and can generate pace down the middle or off the wing. Unlike many of the top players in the province McConnell-Barker did not have the luxury of playing on a stacked dominant Minor Midget team. Despite this he was among the league leaders in points and goals in the Minor Hockey Alliance. He was also able to raise his game up a level at the major AAA tournaments this season.”

’04 F Cedrick Guindon to Owen Sound Attack

NZ Scouts: “Cedrick is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league as an ‘04 which means he’ll catch a lot of draft buzz throughout the season. He’s got effortless stickhandling ability and dekes both defenders and goaltenders inside out. He plays a possession style game and has the awareness and sense to change speed and create separation where he can make opponents miss and break them down 1v1. He won a high percentage of draws as a center with quick hands and the right fundamentals using his stick blade, his skate, body shielding and several other tactics to win possession. Guindon’s most obvious attributes are what he does with the puck, but his ability to get open, present a target and support the puck is the reason he gets a lot of scoring chances.”

’04 F Ryder McIntyre to Sarina Sting

NZ Scouts: “For a big forward, McIntyre has nifty hands and surprisingly good edgework. He uses his reach to get to the puck first and has a step with his speed getting to loose pucks. We continued to like McIntyre’s all round power game. With his reach and size and persistence on the forecheck he creates turnovers on nearly every shift in the offensive zone. “
