NCAA Recruiting: Austin Brimmer Commits to LIU

2001 F Austin Brimmer to LIU for 2021

Brimmer is from Marham, Ont. and has good size at 6-foot-3. He’s currently in his first season for Shreveport in the NAHL after spending two full seasons in the OJHL for the North York Rangers.

This season, Brimmer has four goals and six assists in eight games. Last season he had 21 goals and 21 assists in 49 games and that was following a 25-point rookie campaign. Prior to his run in the OJH, he played for the Toronto Nationals and the Mississauga Rebels.

NZ Scouts: “Great body in front of the net, causes a ton of havoc each shift battling until the whistle and searching for loose pucks. Created multiple chances for himself by forcing rebounds from his screens, turning around and finding the puck quickly. Also showed a high level of skill with his ability to make quick and crafty stick plays in tight to the goalie.”

2000 F Dylan Schuett to Long Island for 2021

Schuett is in his final season as a junior player in the NAHL after spending a lengthy career in the league. He’s appeared in 13 games for the Northeast Generals this season and has scored 3 goals and 9 assists. Between Northeast and St. Cloud, he has appeared in NAHL games over parts of four seasons.

Originally from Medicine Hat, Alb., he played for the Edge School prep teams before moving to the EHL for one season and then into the NAHL.

NZ Scouts: “Through a huge hit on one of the opposing teams’ top players which shows he is skilled but not afraid to go after other top players. Has great speed and takes advantage when teams give him any space. Does really well helping on the walls to get pucks out. Does a lot of the little things right.”

2001 F David Jacobs to Princeton for 2021

Jacobs has been at Nobles and Greenough the last three seasons after one season at Needham High School. Last season the Needham native had 15 goals and 30 assists in 27 games while also playing for the Jr. Eagles EHF split-season team.

NZ Scouts: “What really stood out what his hockey sense; he made great passes on the breakout and through the neutral to create odd-man rushes and he was excellent off the wall on the power play of either feeding the points or the backdoor with precision passes. A late ’01 who caught a lot of NCAA schools eyes this week and has a D1 future ahead of him.”

2002 F Grant Porter to Holy Cross for 2023

The Weston, Mass., native will be staying close to home, committing to David Berard’s Crusaders. This season he’s playing in the NCDC for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs where he has 6 goals and 13 assists in 12 games.

Last season Porter skated for Proctor Academy and the East Coast Militia. In 27 games at Proctor, he had 17 goals and 9 assists.

NZ Scouts: “Porter was fun to watch today. He finished with 2 goals and an assist. One goal was off the face-off where he collected the puck in the slot and pulled the puck into his body to avoid the defender in the shot lane. He capitalized on a 2v1 opportunity, but was hungry for the puck all game.”

2001 F John Malandruccolo to SUNY Fredonia for 2021

The Auburn, N.Y. native will head back to his home state after a two-year run in the EHL with the Boston Jr. Rangers.

In 10 games this season, Malandruccolo has 3 goals and 6 assists. Last season he appeared in 40 games for the EHLP team and had 60 goals and 52 assists for 112 points before appearing in four games for the EHL team, notching a goal and an assist.

Before the Jr. Rangers, he skated for the Rochester Monarchs USPHL team and for Auburn High School, where he had 37 goals as a senior and totaled 82 goals over three varsity seasons.
