FREE: Creed Jones Returns to Rimouski

On the eve of the league reopening, there was one final roster move in teh QMJHL on Thursday. The Rimouski Oceanic came to terms with goaltender Creed Jones, reuniting him with the organization after he played a stint with the team last season.

Jones, 20, started this season with the Saint John Sea Dogs. Jones is a native of Peterborough, Ont.

Jones appeared in 12 games during the 2019-2020 season for Rimouski, where he posted an an excellent average of 1.42 goals against and a save percentage of .934.

“After going through the QMJHL claim process without being claimed and becoming a free agent, we took the opportunity to repatriate our veteran goalie,” said GM and head coach Serge Beausoleil. “He performed so well with L’Océanic. There is no doubt that he will still be able to contribute to the success of the team.”

Jones will have to undergo a 14-day period in isolation before joining the team on the ice.

“Creed is a very calm and composed puck stopper,” noted our NZ scouts. “He is in position and covers his angles and challenges shooters. He is athletic enough to make the big save but makes it look easy in the net.”
