FREE: PWHPA All-Stars Head Back to Tampa to Face USPHL Teams

The Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association has sent a team back to Tampa — they arrived today — and will begin a 10-day stay to face USPHL teams in exhibition games ahead of the PWHPA’s Secret Dream Gap Tour Showcase, which is scheduled for Madison Square Garden on Feb. 28 and will be hosted alongside the New York Rangers.

During the trip, the PWHPA will play five exhibition games. Four games will come against NCDC teams while one game will take place against the Premier League. The team is coached by Bill Flanagan.

“This is another outstanding opportunity to train and play as a team against some high-level competition,” Flanagan said. “The teams we will be playing are outstanding teams that have numerous Division 1 NCAA commits and players on the NHL Central Scouting ‘Watch List’ for the upcoming draft. When you add that competition to the top notch facilities that these women will again have access to, I’m extremely excited. Once again, these women will truly be able to focus on high-level hockey, and will be treated and taken care of like the professionals they are. This is a great opportunity to continue training in advance of the Dream Gap Tour.”

Nine gold medalists from Team USA’s 2018 Olympic team will take part in these games.
