NCAA: Augustine Flips Commitment to Michigan State

Goaltender Trey Augustine (★★★★) has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Michigan State.

Word leaked early on Tuesday morning that Augustine, an ’05 from South Lyon, Mich., had de-committed from Michigan. Hours later, Nathaniel Bott from The Lansing State Journal reported that Augustine had committed to Michigan State.

Augustine played for the U.S. NTDP U17 team last season (with nine appearances for the U18 team) and he is set to play for the U18 team this season. He’ll likely arrive at Michigan State in 2023.

Last season he posted a 3.23 GAA and .899 save percentage in 17 games for the U17 team and he posted a 2.34 GAA and .911 save percentage in those nine games for the U18 team.

Prior to the NTDP, Augustine played for Honeybaked.

“He shows a butterfly style with quickness and good rebound control,” said NZ scouts. “He showed good lateral movement and moves post-to-post quickly and with ease. He swallowed up shots and showed good rebound control. He is active looking around screens, tracks pucks well, and uses his quickness to square up to shooters. He showed ability to play the puck.”
