Mitchell Young (D, L, WW, 04/29/2005) to the Sarina Sting (OHL)

Young is a defenseman who made his OHL debut this past weekend. He began this season with the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL and he posted four points (1g, 3a) in 11 games. Last season he played for Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins of the GOJHL where he posted 31 points (8g, 23a) in 35 games from the back end.

NZ Scouts: “This player showed a lot of smarts and hockey IQ while out on the ice. He was able to force a couple of turnovers early in the game by anticipating the opposition and using a quick stick to poke the puck loose. He had a smooth stride and above average straight-line speed. With the puck on his stick he was able to show a high level of awareness for the ice around him, and the ability to create offence with his playmaking.”

Raine Nadeau (D, R, 6’4″, 201, Charlottetown Islanders, 08/24/2004) to the Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL)

Nadeau is an ’04 who is already 6-foot-4 and 201 pounds on the back end as a defenseman. He began this season in the OJHL with the Stouffville Spirit where he posted three points (1g, 2a) in 17 games.

NZ Scouts: “Nadeau is physically strong, defensively responsible, and exemplifies patience and composure while patrolling the Generals’ blue line. At the recent OMHA Championship Tournament held in Belleville, ON, his size and strength were noted assets on the penalty kill as he easily cleared the crease without compromising his defensive positioning. He closes gaps with confidence at the blue line and can angle off opponents, and can pivot from backward skating to front, without hesitation, to contain those gaining his zone wide and with speed. Nadeau is a prime example of a trustworthy and dependable stay-at-home rearguard and would certainly stand a chance to bolster a club’s back end at the next level as his ability, size, and work ethic translate well.”

Nick Blagden (F, R, 6’0″, 195, St. John Vito’s , 01/01/2002) to the Saint John Seadogs (QMJHL)

Blagden is an ’02 who has Q experience with a few teams. He began this season playing senior hockey with the River Valley Rock but he recently joined the Sea Dogs.

Last season he appeared in 33 games for Moncton and Saint John and totaled two goals and four assists.
