Andover, NH -A lakes region matchup takes place today between visiting Kimball Union Academy and Proctor Academy at “The Ted” in Andover, New Hampshire, at 2:30. KUA is coming off a loss to a tough Rivers School team, and Proctor dropped two close games at the Andover jamboree last weekend.
Proctor took the opening draw and got the puck in deep, and play went back-and-forth for the first half of the period, with both teams moving the puck and getting chances. At 8:44, Proctor committed a blue line turnover, and Kimball Union was able to capitalize when Sam Ledrew took a pass from Jack Sadowski and ripped one off the post and in. Minutes later, Proctor came right back on a beautiful two-on-one play with Finn Connor cutting in front of Beckett Homlish, dropping the puck to him. Beckett put the puck above the glove of KUA goalie Blake McMeniman—an exciting first period ended at 1-1.
The second period was more of the same, with both teams trading power plays in the first part of the period. Then, at the 12:04 mark, CJ Watroba won a puck battle at the half wall and moved the puck to Ian Ramsey in the high slot, and he scored off a quick release shot. The second period ended 2-1 Kimball Union heading into the third.
The third period was more back-and-forth hockey as both teams were trading chances. Pasqualone, the Proctor netminder, made a beautiful save on a cross pass to keep Proctor in the game. At 8:40, Kimball Union took a time out before a defensive zone face-off; less than 10 seconds later, Kimball Union had one in the back of the net as Sadowski and LeDrew completed a beautiful two-on-one. At 7:21 of the third period, Proctor committed a checking from behind penalty, resulting in a five-minute power-play for Kimball Union. Proctor was able to kill that off and had two shorthanded opportunities. KUA was able to hold on for a 3-1 hard-fought victory.
