Lawrence Tips Tabor

Dedham, MA-Tabor Academy was the home team in an ISL neutral site tilt at Nobles, with Lawrence Academy on the visiting team’s bench. Junior Kolin Belliveau tended the cage for Lawrence while Senior Brayden Bennett covered the net for Tabor.

The game started favoring Tabor as they kept the play mainly in Lawrence’s zone. Belliveau did not have time to adjust as he was tested early. At the midpoint of the stanza, Lawrence started to show their game and sustained pressure with several scoring opportunities; the period ended in a scoreless tie, 0-0.

The second frame had Lawrence control the puck and had a majority of the zone time. However, with 7:40 left in the period, Senior Cam Gaffney had a clever shorthanded goal, making it 1-0 in favor of Tabor. He broke up a play at the blue line and went in on a breakaway, faking forehand and hitting the back of the net with a smooth backhander. Special teams delivered for Lawrence Academy tied it up with 4:10 left in the frame on the power play. A deft pass by Senior Owen Leahy found a wide-open Junior Laz Giardina backdoor for a tap-in. The second period ended in 1-1.

The third period was a back-and-forth affair, with Tabor having a slight edge in chances and Belliveau making some timely saves to keep it even. With 8:30 to go in the period, Senior Ty Wood found Senior Spencer Hirsch to make it 2-1. Lawrence Academy was able to fend off some chances from Tabor to earn the victory.
