Exeter Cruises Past Tabor

Marion, MA – Phillips Exeter Big Red took the long bus to Tabor Academy for tonight’s prep school matchup. Both teams came out Flying putting pucks on the net early and trading offensive chances. With 8:33 left in the first period, Tabor had its best chance on a breakaway that Brady Quackenbush flashed the leather and made a glove save to keep the game scoreless.  With 1:23 left in the first, Exeter scored on a Will Cavanagh shot after a slick pass from Nick Fasano (which the referees missed.) The teams would go to the locker room with Exeter leading 1-0.  Shots were 13-13 in the first period 

Exeter exploded for three goals in the second period to take the game over. The period’s first goal was scored on the power play when defenseman Roger Davis rifled a shot through traffic into the back of the net to give the Big Red a 2-0 advantage at the 7:54 mark of the period.  Just under four minutes later, Exeter struck again when Fasano tipped a Cam Fiasconaro shot in the goal to put Exeter ahead 3-0. One minute and 40 seconds later, Exeter would take a 4-0 lead. Dryden Dervish took a pass from Eli Pendergrass and beat the goalie to cap the scoring for Exeter—shots in the second period Exeter 14 Tabor 13.

The third period featured some heavy hits and chippy play. Neither team could take advantage of power play opportunities. Quackenbush would make huge saves to keep the Seawolves off the board and hold the shutout.  Final shots Exeter 37 Tabor 35
