Southfield vs Andover

Game Notes

It was all Southfield in the opening 5 minutes of the game , holding Andover in their own end for the majority of play. Andover proved to be opportunistic and created great chances for off of Southfield turnovers. Andover goalie (Sophia Merageas) looked solid in net, tracking the puck well and turning away all shots she faced early on. Momentum shifted back and forth through a lot of neutral zone play. With roughly 8 to go in the opening period, Andover cycled the puck down low and a great pass from Kylie Quinlan led to a wrist shot goal from Olivia O’Brien

The second period saw more back and forth play with very few shots for either team in the opening 10 minutes. Southfield had a goalie change with about 10 minutes remaining in the period and from this point on Andover took over. Southfield was able to register two great opportunities off of odd man rushes but again, Sophia Merageas came up big. Late in the period Lilly Feeney carried the puck below the goal line and made a great feed to Anna Bargman in the slot who put the puck in the back of the net off of a one-touch shot.

The third period saw Southfield struggle to get any offensive presence as Andover really pushed the pace of the play. Andover’s penalty kill went 3/3 on the night, keeping the momentum firmly on their side. Feeney added her second of the game to cap off the scoring in this game on a beauty top corner snipe from the left faceoff circle. Andover won the game 3-0.
