Game Recap
Midway through the second, New Hampton was able to add to their two goal lead after a long stint in Vermont Academy’s end. The goal resulted from a beautiful tic tac toe passing play between #9 Taze Thompson and #10 Courtney Colarullo, with #11 Anna Sheldon finishing it off by putting the puck in the back of the Vermont Academy goal. The remainder of the second period was largely handled by the Huskies until the final 2 minutes of play. Some strong shots from VA were followed by great puck pressure which nearly turned into two goals for VA but new Hampton goaltender #30 Avery Callison was able to keep the puck out of her net.
The third period saw increased offensive pressure by the Huskies. However, a series of New Hampton penalties gave VA a little bit of life and they were able to generate some solid scoring opportunities on the power play but were unable to convert. The Huskies added on 2 more goals from #15 Casey Chesner assisted by #2 Julia Pellerin followed by #9 Taze Thompson assisted by #22 Emma Robertson to make it a 5-0 game. The Huskies win their quarter final game 5-0 to advance to the semifinals in the Dorothy Howard NEPSAC Bracket.
