Semil-Final: Andover vs Loomis Chafee

Game Recap

Andover was able to jump out with a great start in their Semi-final game vs Loomis. Right from the get go they were able to establish a strong forechecking presence in the Loomis end and were able to generate multiple chances early, testing Loomis goaltender #31 Elinor Keehn early. Loomis seemed to find their legs about 2 minutes in and successfully  matched the pace of play. Just under 3 minutes in, Andover netted their first of the game off of a beautiful shot from #24 Abby Lamontagne assisted by #26 Indi Wagner.

In the second period, it was Loomis who was able to get the fast start, putting Andover on their heels for the first two minutes of the frame. However, it was Andover who was able to get on the board  on one of their first shots in the period on a great passing play for a back door goal from #2 Olivia O’Brien from #16 Anne Averill and #7 Maddy Silveira. Loomis kept pushing the pace with a couple scoring chances off the stick of #12 Jenna Donohue and #23 Amanda Quan but were unable to convert.

Loomis put together a strong third period and Keehn made some great saves to keep her team within range. Despite some quality chances, including one off the crossbar from #14 Zoe Pincelli, Loomis was unable to get by Andover goaltender, Sofia Margeas . Andover’s success was largely due to their ability to limit any quality scoring chances against. Loomis players were kept to the outside and were rarely able to generate scoring chances in dangerous areas. Margeas earned the shutout win as Andover advances to the Elite 8 Finals against Noble and Greenough tomorrow at 5:20pm in Worcester, MA.
