This game started off with a face pace right from the opening draw. BB&N opened the scoring just 30 seconds in off of a neutral zone regroup where #8 Molly Griffin gathered speed and showed off her puck control ability by splitting the D and going forehand backhand just over the Nobles goalie’s shoulder. Following an exchange of chances for both teams, Nobles went up on the powerplay and evened the score with #9 Emerson O’Leary burying a loose puck in the crease.
Tensions soared in the second frame as both teams continued to battle for every inch of ice they could get. After a scoreless first 10 minutes, Nobles went up on the man advantage following a BB&N tripping penalty and went to work. Just as the penalty expired, Nobles forward #7 Maeve Connolly rushed into the offensive zone with #4 Kate Ham on a 2 on 1. Connolly made a great feed to Ham across the BB&N defender and Ham made no mistake, going bar down, putting the Bulldogs up 2-1 on a beautiful goal. A Nobles crosschecking penalty later negated a sweet one-touch goal by #19 Ellie Bayard from #24 Cassidy Piersiak.
The conclusion of this hard fought match up saw great scoring opportunities for both teams. BB&N goaltender had to come up with some great saves to keep her team in the game. With 3:38 left in the game nobles was called for a crosscheck minor but BB&N was unable to convert Nobles remains undefeated with a hard fought 2-1 victory.
